Documenting years of delays, broken promises, and censored customers

"Since 2023, Immersed has collected millions in pre-orders for its Visor headset โ€” while customers who ask questions are silenced, banned, and have their orders cancelled."

A Timeline of Broken Promises

Announcement
August 2023
Visor Unveiled โ€” "Ships in 2024"
Immersed reveals the Visor at the Immerse Global Summit. The headset is promised for 2024. Pre-orders open based exclusively on CGI renders โ€” no working hardware is shown. The company is valued at $150 million per Reuters. Founder's Edition is priced at $999 (full price, not a deposit) with the explicit promise it ships 6 months before all other orders. Standard Visor 4K is $700.

Thousands Pay Full Price Based on Renders Alone
Customers worldwide pay $700โ€“$999 based solely on concept renders. The actual hardware design has not been revealed. Independent observers immediately raise red flags about the lack of working prototypes. The pre-order page explicitly states these are "fully refundable reservations" โ€” but also warns that once a face scan is submitted, the deposit becomes non-refundable.

First Public Demo: Chaos and Barely-Functional Hardware
The "Immersed IRL" event in Austin, Texas becomes the company's first credibility test โ€” and it fails. After two-plus hours of waiting, attendees are told demos will be "hardware only, not software." UploadVR's journalist describes units as "barely functional." A second journalist tried a "partially functional" unit that had to be cooled with an iced coffee to stay operational. Founder Renji Bijoy simultaneously reveals the actual hardware design (different from renders on the pre-order page) and announces the down payment for new orders is increasing to $500.

First Official Delay: "April 2025 at Earliest"
Founder Renji Bijoy admits general pre-orders won't ship until April 2025 at the earliest โ€” a full year after the original 2024 promise. The pre-order page continues to show old concept renders rather than the actual hardware revealed at the event.

Late 2024 โ€“ Early 2025
"Shipped" Units Are Non-Functional PR Loaners โ€” Not Customer Orders
Immersed claims "a handful of Founder's Edition units are out in the wild." In reality, the only units sent out were pre-production loaners delivered to a small number of content creators and tech reviewers for promotional purposes. According to community reports, these units were not functional enough for regular daily use, with recipients unable to use them productively due to unfinished software. Zero paying Founder's Edition customers โ€” who paid $999 and were promised first delivery โ€” have received their orders. (Community-reported accounts โ€” pending further verification.)

Mass Production Now "After Summer 2025"
Immersed publishes a blog post stating mass production will begin "in the following quarter(s)" after Founder's Editions ship โ€” meaning after summer 2025. The company cites refinements needed to buttons, headstrap, nose piece, and soft materials. Critics note these are basic components that should have been resolved before accepting full-price payments two years prior.

Customers Silenced, Banned, and Orders Cancelled
A consistent pattern of censorship has emerged: customer questions in the official Discord channel are deleted. Users asking about timelines are blocked without warning. At least one customer who emailed the CEO to ask about delays had their pre-order cancelled โ€” not as a refund they requested, but as apparent retaliation for asking questions. This page exists because of exactly this kind of silencing.

The World Didn't Wait for Visor

"In 2023, Immersed's pitch was genuinely visionary โ€” a lightweight, 4K, productivity-first headset at an affordable price. They had no real competition. In 2026, that window has closed. The market they promised to create has been built by others who actually shipped."

When Immersed opened pre-orders in late 2023, collecting $700โ€“$999 from thousands of customers, the concept was bold and the competition was thin. Apple Vision Pro existed at $3,499 โ€” far out of reach for most. A lightweight, affordable, work-focused alternative seemed like a genuine gap in the market.

Two and a half years later, that gap has been filled โ€” not by Immersed, but by companies that actually manufactured, shipped, and delivered their products to real customers. The market Immersed's customers paid to help create now belongs to its competitors.

The honest investment picture in 2026: In 2023 your $999 backed a bold vision with no competition. In 2026, that same $999 could buy you an XREAL Air 2 Ultra โ€” a shipped, reviewed, working device with 6DoF tracking and hand tracking โ€” with $300 left over. Or a Viture Pro XR and a Meta Quest 3S combined. The customers who paid Immersed are not just waiting for a product. They are waiting while better alternatives are available right now, from companies that proved they could execute.
